WoundCentrics Operations Team adds Experience and Expertise

WoundCentrics, a full-service wound care management company located in New Braunfels, Texas, has announced the addition of new managers to the operational and training teams to deliver its comprehensive integrated wound care services. 

Sara Holtman, RN, BSN, CWCA, Director of Education 

Sara has been named the Director of Education for WoundCentrics and manages the company education and training programs through Wound Care University. Sara was a founding member of WoundCentrics and grew clinical operations with the Long-Term Care Hospital clients.  She left the company to work in Hospital management before her return to WoundCentrics in the education role. 

“Sara brings extensive wound care knowledge and managerial experience to our education team and will lead the growth of Wound Care University,” said Dr. Marcus Gitterle, Chief Medical Officer.   

Kimberly Ford, MBA-MH, BSN, MHA and CWCA, Dir. of IP  

Kimberly joined the company last summer as Director of Inpatient Services. In her role, Kim will implement Inpatient services at the newest Christus Santa Rosa Hospital client in San Marcos. Kim has extensive inpatient wound care nursing background that will help her focus on the development of Wound Centrics’ Hospital Inpatient Wound Care Services with all clients.

Linsey began her work at WoundCentrics January 2022 to assist with growing and developing Outpatient Services for Wound Centrics.  She had been working as an administrator for the V.A. hospital system in San Antonio and brings her knowledge of health care and managerial experience to the company’s operations team. 

“Adding Lindsey to our operations team, we are committed to delivering our full integrated wound care services to each client and every patient we serve” Simpson stated.  “Lindsey will support our growth and assist in delivering support to current and future partners.”

Shellie Torres, the Director of Human Resources for WoundCentrics, assumes the role of President of the Lubbock Chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management for the 2022 term. She served the past year as the President-Elect for the organization and began her new term in January.

Shellie will provide leadership to the local chapter including serving as a voting member of the state council, serve as the chairperson for the Board of Directors, conduct business of the chapter, preside over all activities of all officers and directors and standing committees, monitor accounting and chapter funds and lead the short- and long-term planning of the organization.

The local website claims that the Lubbock Chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) serves the West Texas area. And while affiliated with National SHRM, the chapter operates independently to provide a wide variety of professional development and networking opportunities for the Lubbock area HR professionals to grow together. The Chapter's diverse membership represents large and small corporations and organizations in the area and ranges in experience from entry level to senior level individuals.

Wound Care University Announces 2022 HBO Medicine Course Schedule

Wound Care University has announced the 2022 schedule of course offerings for the 40-Hour Introduction to Hyperbaric Medicine Course approved by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS) for health care providers.

This five-day, 40-hour live course is designed to equip health care providers with a base of knowledge in Hyperbaric Medicine and advanced wound care management. Approved by the UHMS as an Introduction to Hyperbaric Medicine, this course is taught by our nationally recognized physicians who actively work in wound care and hyperbaric medicine every day.

The Hyperbaric training course will be held in-person in New Braunfels, Texas (just outside of San Antonio, Texas) and the course is available for live streaming.

The HBO Medicine Course is designed for physicians, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, registered respiratory therapists, physical therapists, physician assistants, emergency medical technicians (EMT), and paramedics involved in advanced wound care management.

Veteran Plastic Surgeon and Wound Care Physician Joins WoundCentrics in San Antonio

John L. Baeke, M.D. has joined WoundCentrics and will serve as the Medical Director for the Christus Santa Rosa Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center at the Westover Hills Campus. As a plastic surgeon, he will also provide reconstructive services as well as cosmetic surgery to patients in the San Antonio market.

The Kansas native received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine; completed his general surgery and plastic surgery residencies in Santa Barbara and San Francisco, California.  Dr. Baeke served as a Commander in the U.S. Navy Medical Corp.

Dr. Baeke has had a long and distinguished career as a surgeon in Kansas City and more recently had a successful plastic surgery and wound care practice in the Lompoc/Santa Ynez Valley, California area.

Earlier in Dr. Baeke's career, he developed a medical center burn unit and a wound care center; was an advisor to Johnson & Johnson Wound Care division; was one of the original investigators for the KCI Wound V.A.C.; taught at the university level; lectured on the national stage; published in peer-reviewed journals; received patents for improvements to breast implant design; and testified in Washington, D.C. as an FDA clinical investigator.

Upon his relocation to Texas, Dr. Baeke completed the Wound Care University course.  He was recently credentialed at Christus Santa Rosa Hospitals and is currently accepting patients at the Wound and Hyperbaric Center located at 1121 State Hwy 151, Plaza 2, Suite 300, San Antonio, Texas 78251.

WoundCentrics, LLC, located in New Braunfels, Texas has announced that it has entered into a Management Services Agreement with Memorial Health University Medical Center (MHUMC) in Savannah, Georgia, a part of HCA Healthcare.

MHUMC Savannah has 665 licensed beds, is a level 1 trauma center, and is the largest Hospital system in Savannah providing healthcare services in 35 counties in Southeastern Georgia and Southern South Carolina. The Outpatient Wound & Hyperbaric Center began providing services under WoundCentrics management on October 1, 2021.

WoundCentrics, a full-service wound care company based in New Braunfels, Texas, has announced that it has signed Agreements to provide wound care services to four (4) area skilled nursing homes in the Corbin, Kentucky area owned by the Forcht Group of Lexington, KY.

WoundCentrics currently provides inpatient wound care services to the Baptist ContinueCARE Hospital and the outpatient Wound Care Center at Baptist Corbin Hospital, Corbin, Kentucky.

The four area nursing home facilities that a WoundCentrics wound care specialist will provide wound care services to include:

  • The Heritage Nursing & Rehabilitation, Corbin, KY

  • Hillcrest Health & Rehabilitation Center, Corbin, KY

  • Williamsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center, Williamsburg, Ky

  • Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center, Barbourville, KY

These skilled nursing homes, in addition to the Somerset, Ky facility that WoundCentrics currently services, make a total of five area nursing homes that WoundCentrics contracts with for wound care. WoundCentrics also provides wound care services for the Baptist Wound Care Center, giving WoundCentrics the largest and strongest wound care presence in the southeast Kentucky market.

Dr. Susan Tower joins WoundCentrics in the Corpus Christi Market

WoundCentrics has announced that prominent Corpus Christi physical medicine and rehabilitation physician Susan Tower, MD, MBA will begin seeing wound care patients at Regional Wound Care of Corpus Christi, a WoundCentrics facility, in July. Dr. Tower has served as a medical director for WoundCentrics for the past seven years.

Dr. Tower relocated to Corpus Christi in 2006 from Longview, Texas to start her practice in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, providing services in several area hospitals, with the Christus Spohn Health system being the primary focus of her practice. Starting July 1, Dr. Tower will be the Medical Director for outpatient wound care and hyperbaric medicine at Regional Wound Care and Hyperbarics, located at 1533 5th St, Corpus Christi, TX 78404.

Dr. Tower did her undergraduate work at the University of Pennsylvania and subsequently graduated with a medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She has Wound Care Certification (WCC) through the National Alliance of Wound Care and holds a Diabetic Wound Care Certification from the same organization. In 2014 she earned an Executive Healthcare Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Christus Santa Rosa San Marcos Hospital and WoundCentrics have announced that Eduardo Sandoval, M.D., MBA will become the new medical director at the outpatient Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center. 

Dr. Sandoval has a background in both Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine and has served as the medical director for the WoundCentrics’ wound care and hyperbaric medicine program in West Monroe, Louisiana prior to accepting his new role in San Marcos. 

Dr. Sandoval is an El Paso, Texas native. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from The University of Texas at El Paso. He then attended medical school at Texas Tech University, graduating in 2014.  He studied surgery at the University of Connecticut Health Sciences Center as well as the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Philadelphia from 2014 to 2016.  He completed his Family Medicine Residency at Yuma Regional Medical Center in 2020. He subsequently completed the Alteon Health Emergency Medicine Fellowship and is pending board certification.  

Dr. Sandoval will begin serving in his new role as medical director for the outpatient wound care and hyperbaric medicine center when WoundCentrics assumes the program oversight and management on July 1, 2021.
